The CIMA currently employs about 350 investigators and technicians and works on 22 research programs.

The projects are conducted in close to 40 laboratories and are characterized by interdisciplinary effort: physicians, biologists, biochemists, geneticists, chemists, pharmacists, etc., all work in basic research with a marked emphasis on clinical application. The investigators pertaining to the CIMA also collaborate with other research institutions at both Spanish national and international level (United States, United Kingdom, Sweden, Japan, Italy, France, Denmark, Germany, Austria, Hungary, etc.).
